For most Nigerian shop owners, the scariest part of changing POS software isn't the price — it's the fear of downtime: a closed shop, lost sales, and hours spent re-typing every product. InkeepX is built to remove exactly that fear. Because you import your data with a CSV and the apps keep selling offline, you can move your whole business across with near-zero interruption to trading.
You migrate to InkeepX in three stages: (1) bulk-import your products and records with a CSV file (no manual re-typing), (2) install the apps — the offline desktop app for your counter, the Android app for selling on the move, or just the web app at inkeepx.com/login — and (3) set up your team and their permissions. Because the desktop app works fully offline after the first online setup, you keep selling through NEPA blackouts and network drops, so downtime is close to zero.
The ProblemWhy switching POS usually causes downtime
Most POS migrations go wrong in the same few places. Knowing them in advance is half the battle:
Re-typing every product
Entering hundreds or thousands of items by hand takes days and is full of pricing errors.
Internet-only systems
Cloud tools that need constant internet freeze the moment NEPA or your network drops — and sales stop.
Staff retraining
If the new system is complicated, your team slows down and queues build up at the counter.
Fear of losing data
Owners worry their old records won't come across cleanly, so they delay switching for months.
InkeepX is designed so none of these four become a reason to close your shop. Here's how.
The ApproachHow InkeepX keeps downtime near zero
InkeepX is a cloud-based retail and business management platform, so there is no complex local server or database to set up. That alone removes the slowest part of a traditional POS install. On top of that, three design choices make the switch almost seamless:
- CSV bulk import — your existing products and records come across in one upload, not one keystroke at a time.
- Offline-first desktop app — once set up, your counter keeps selling with no internet and syncs automatically when it returns.
- One live dataset, three apps — web, desktop, and mobile all share the same live data, so you can start on the web in minutes and add the apps whenever it suits you.
You and your team can use InkeepX in three ways, all sharing the same live data:
| Way to use InkeepX | Best for | Install needed? | Works offline? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Web app | Getting started fast on any device | None — log in at inkeepx.com/login | Needs internet |
| Desktop app | Your point-of-sale counter | Install once (online first setup) | ✓ Full offline mode |
| Mobile / tablet app | Selling & managing on the move | Install the Android app | ✓ Syncs when online |
Step 1Migrate your data with a CSV
Moving your existing products and records into InkeepX is done with a single CSV file — you do not need to enter everything by hand. Almost every POS or inventory system, and every spreadsheet, can produce a CSV.
Export your current data as CSV
From your current software or spreadsheet, export your products and records to a CSV file. Almost every POS or inventory system can export to CSV.
Download the InkeepX CSV sample template
Open the CSV sample template included in your InkeepX onboarding guide (or ask support to send it). It shows exactly which columns InkeepX expects.
Format your data to match the template
Line up your columns — product name, price, quantity, and so on — with the sample. This is the only real preparation work, and it's done in your spreadsheet.
Upload it in the dashboard
Go to the “Upload CSV” section of your InkeepX dashboard and upload your file.
Done — you're migrated
All your data is now in InkeepX and ready to use. No manual re-entry, no lost catalogue.
Keep the column headers exactly as they appear in the sample template so the upload maps your data correctly. If anything looks off, the InkeepX support team can review your file with you before you upload — so it works the first time.
Want a hand with your CSV?Send your export to the InkeepX support team and we'll check the columns before you upload — so the migration is clean and quick.
Create your account →Step 2Download & install the apps
Choose the apps that suit how your business runs. Most stores use the desktop app at the counter and the mobile app for managers on the move — but any combination works, because all three share the same live data.
Desktop app (with offline mode)
Install the desktop app on your point-of-sale computers. Download it here: inkeepx.com/download/InkeepX-Offline.zip
Complete the first setup while online so your data can migrate and sync to the device. After that initial online setup, the desktop app works fully offline — you keep selling even without internet, and it syncs automatically once the connection returns. This is what gives you near-zero downtime during NEPA cuts.
Android mobile / tablet app
Install the Android app on any phone or tablet to sell and manage on the go. Download the APK here: inkeepx.com/downloads/inkeepX-App.apk
Web app (no installation)
Prefer the browser? Just log in at inkeepx.com/login from any device — there's nothing to install, and it's the fastest way to go live the same day you sign up.
Step 3Set up your team & permissions
InkeepX lets you give each staff member their own access, with the exact permissions you choose. This keeps your business secure and lets you track sales per staff member.
Open the Team section
Go to the Team section in your InkeepX dashboard.
Add each staff member
Create an account for every member of your team.
Assign permissions
Give them the Sale permission, or any other privileges you want them to have — you decide exactly what each person can do.
They're ready to sell
That's it. Your staff can now start selling from any app — the web app, the offline desktop app, or the mobile/tablet app — all using the access you assigned.
The PlanYour near-zero-downtime migration plan
Put the three steps together in this order and you can switch without ever closing the shop:
- Export your products from your current system to CSV a day or two before go-live.
- Format the file to match the InkeepX template, and let support review it if you're unsure.
- Create your free InkeepX account and upload the CSV in the “Upload CSV” section.
- Log in on the web app and check that your products, prices, and quantities look right.
- Install the desktop app at the counter and complete its first setup while online.
- Add your staff in the Team section and assign their permissions.
- Ring up a few test sales, then go live — keep your old system in read-only as a backup for a week.
Because the desktop app is already synced and offline-ready, a power or network cut on go-live day won't stop you — you simply keep selling, and InkeepX catches up automatically when you're back online.
This app has really helped my business. I can monitor my sales record, inventory, purchases and staff sales from anywhere seamlessly. I also love the feature where my staff can be allowed to access the app as well to make sales. Thank you so much InkeepX.

FAQFrequently asked questions
You migrate with a simple CSV file, so you never re-type products by hand. Export your data from your current POS or spreadsheet as a CSV, download the InkeepX CSV sample template, line up your columns (product name, price, quantity, and so on) to match it, then upload the file in the “Upload CSV” section of your dashboard. Your data is migrated and ready to use straight away.
No — downtime is near zero. You bulk-import your products with a CSV instead of re-entering them, and the desktop app keeps selling offline, so you can migrate without closing your shop. Complete the first setup online, then keep trading even if the internet or power drops, with everything syncing automatically when the connection returns.
Yes. After you complete the first setup while online, the InkeepX desktop app works fully offline. You can keep selling with no internet, and the app syncs automatically once connectivity returns — which is essential for Nigerian businesses dealing with NEPA blackouts and unreliable networks.
Not necessarily. You can use the web app from any browser at inkeepx.com/login with nothing to install. For offline selling at the counter you install the desktop app, and for selling on the move you install the Android app on a phone or tablet. All three share the same live data, so you can use any combination.

Open the Team section of your dashboard, add each staff member, and assign the exact permissions you want — for example the Sale permission. This keeps your business secure and lets you track sales per staff member. Your team can then work from the web, desktop, or mobile app using the access you assigned.
No. Once your desktop app has completed its first online setup, it keeps selling through power and network outages in full offline mode. Every sale is stored on the device and syncs automatically to the cloud when connectivity returns, so you experience close to zero downtime.
